Skill Level - Easy
This is only one way to make your own eye pins; everyone has their own way :-)
- Cut the length of wire you want for your eye pin - remember to allow an extra 1cm for the eye loop.
- Hold the wire in one hand and the round nose pliers in the other.
- Place the end of the wire between the pliers jaws, with the length of the wire pointing down.
- Holding the pliers firmly and the wire, roll the pliers away from you. If you can’t roll it all the way into a loop (because your wrist just doesn’t bend that far) don’t worry. Just release the wire from your pliers.
- Hold your pliers as you did before, positioning the end of the wire between the pliers. There will now be a curve of wire over the top of the jaws with the length of wire pointing down.
- Bend the length of wire with your thumb, so that it completes the loop.
- Position your pliers so that the top jaw is through the loop; the bottom jaw should be near where the loop closes on the wire tail.
- Bend the tail towards you. This will bend the tail so that the loop is centred over the tail (more professional look).
