Skill Level - Easy

This is only one way to make your own eye pins; everyone has their own way :-)

  1. Cut the length of wire you want for your eye pin - remember to allow an extra 1cm for the eye loop.
  2. Hold the wire in one hand and the round nose pliers in the other.
  3. Place the end of the wire between the pliers jaws, with the length of the wire pointing down.
  4. Holding the pliers firmly and the wire, roll the pliers away from you. If you can’t roll it all the way into a loop (because your wrist just doesn’t bend that far) don’t worry. Just release the wire from your pliers.
  5. Hold your pliers as you did before, positioning the end of the wire between the pliers. There will now be a curve of wire over the top of the jaws with the length of wire pointing down.
  6. Bend the length of wire with your thumb, so that it completes the loop.
  7. Position your pliers so that the top jaw is through the loop; the bottom jaw should be near where the loop closes on the wire tail.
  8. Bend the tail towards you. This will bend the tail so that the loop is centred over the tail (more professional look).
